The reason that Congress finds itself deadlocked on negotiations for the fiscal cliff is because major corporations, such as oil companies, are fighting to keep their government subsidies from being cut. The big oil industry has already recorded over $90 billion in profits so far in 2012 with still a month to go. Yet, the oil industry continues to receive $4 billion in taxpayer subsidies every year!
